Airport Vaccination Center, 2021

Two products form AVC's solution.

About half a year ago I was asked to join an international start-up called Airport Vaccination Center to work as a UX / UI designer. AVC provides a patented solution for pharmaceutical and health organizations to help the world get vaccinated quicker and safer. That solution consists of two products: 1) a booking webapp for citizens of a country to book a vaccination or test time and 2) the system behind it we call the 'Platform', controlled by the pharmaceutical companies, health organizations and/or governments to distribute the vaccines and administer them without hassle. The approach of how to design the products were very different.

First we have to sell the product

Reaching a specific audience.

I first designed and developed AVC's website to inform people about our products, create brand awareness and motivate contact very specific target audience (pharmaceutical manufacturers, private health companies, governments, NGO’s and public health organizations). My colleagues focused on the content and I created a logical information structure, as well as a professional and presentable design. After finishing the design I coded the front-end of the website using HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Since the website's launch I am also analyzing the Google Analytics and Hotjar data coming in to determine how we can increase traffic coming to the website and the conversion.

The app

A citizen's customer journey.

One of the app's challenges was to create a booking system that has a low-threshold to increase the likeliness of usage. One of my solutions was to show one step at a time to minimize the working load. It was also important to me that the user has a clear understanding of their position in the booking steps at all time.

Because every country's rules are different I have had to take many different scenarios into account. I not only worked out different scenarios, but made sure the scenarios could be used simultaneously. Getting these details right is a make-or-break for our customers.

The platform

Data visualization and mental models.

Together with our airport logistics expert I decided which data to show for which authority levels. Then I started designing overview pages and dashboards where good data visualization and visual hierarchy was very important, so the user can evaluate the data fast. Understanding what the user's work day looks like was very important, too. Answering questions like: how should the system cope with having to handle incoming issues fast?

On the page where stock can be planned and updated it was important for me to visualize the data the same way users are already used to in their current work. This prevents a learning curve and it is proven to work well within the airport logistics business. Why change a winning team?

Work in proccess...

Stay tuned!

We are still developing the products, so I cannot yet show the end results of the app nor the platform. You can however see some extra previews of the webapp on AVC's website!

Excited about what you see?

I am very interested to hear what you think, whether it’s about my previous projects, potential future projects, the opportunity to work together or even if you want to tell me about your favorite movie. I am already looking forward to reading your message!
